How do I connect my hpCommerce POS to WooCommerce?
Connecting hpCommerce to WooCommerce is technical. When connecting hpCommerce to WooCommerce, you will need a specific plugin to allow for the authorization to connect from hpCommerce to WooCommerce. This is typically called oAUTH.
In addition to this, your hpCommerce installation needs to be configured correctly so that it can receive orders and update products, pricing, part quantities and more within WooCommerce.
It is best to setup a specific “sales department”, a “salesperson”, identify orders that come in from the web as “web-order” and create an admin user within WooCommerce specifically for use with hpCommerce.
Image uploads from hpCommerce to WooCommerce require specific api keys and tokens to allow you to fully automate the upload of new products and images to WooCommerce from hpCommerce as the built in token system for oAuth that connects to WooCommerce only leaves a 1 hour window open for this upload. Once it expires, you have to re-authenticate in order to be able to upload images again to your WooCommerce website.
My WooCommerce website is already built and has products on it, can I connect hpCommerce to my existing website?
It is not recommended as hpCommerce needs to be the “Point of Truth”, meaning, everything should originate from hpCommerce. hpCommerce will SYNC TO WooCommerce for images, part quantities, pricing, etc. and wipe out and override whatever is in the products, categories and images for products if added by hpCommerce. If you have products on your current website that are NOT in hpCommerce, then you should backup your entire website and perform a TEST sync from hpCommerce to WooCommerce with ONE PLC (product line code). This way, you only upload a few products and you can see if it is going to wipe out your existing products. Each website setup is different, that is why we will request access to WooCommerce and access to your installation of hpCommerce via a remote session so that we can test this functionality. In some cases, you can maintain other products outside of hpCommerce and they will funnel and sync down into hpCommerce without a part number and as an external product, but note, editing those products will always be performed on WooCommerce (ie: pricing, images, inventory, etc.).
How Do I Sync Orders with hpCommerce and WooCommerce?
API Keys from WooCommerce must be obtained and added to hpCommerce. There are several other configurations needed so it is best to hire a professional, like After Dark Grafx. Once your hpCommerce configuration is setup correctly and the api tokens have been added to connect to WooCommerce, we will perform a few test transactions to make sure that orders will funnel down and sync into hpCommerce.
How Do I Upload My Part Images to WooCommerce from hpCommerce?
Within hpCommerce you would select M – E – W – 2. This will take you to the WooCommerce configuration screen. On this screen there is another section for oAuth credentials for API keys that must be added. You will enter all of the information on this screen then attempt to GET AUTH CREDENTIALS token. Once you select GET AUTH CREDENTIALS it will open your WooCommerce website and create a token it will then forward to hpCommerce to create another token key that will allow the authorization. A new URL will be presented upon completion that will need to be copied and entered into the VALIDATE CREDENTIALS input box. Lastly, you will select ESC to escape the page and select SAVE to save the credentials. At this time you an select U or Update WooCommerce and it will go through and attempt to upload parts, pricing, inventory quantities for your parts, images, etc.
My Products Synced to WooCommerce but they are all named PRODUCT instead of the product names
You will have to either MAP the description to a NAME in WooCommerce via the Product Mapping integration or add the new web title to the Alternate Web Title Section. You can get there by selecting TOGGLE WEB FORMAT on any product. Then select EDIT. Once completed, you will select ESC and save the product. If you attempt to SEND UPDATES on the same screen as the part you are on, it WILL NOT UPLOAD PART IMAGES. It will only send pricing, quantities and other text data to WooCommerce. In order to send the images, you would need to navigate to M – E – W – U to Update WooCommerce from the eComm Module screen. It will then sync and send part images.
